The municipality of Mijas, consisting of
several large urbanisations, covers an impressive area of over 148 square
kilometres.
Although the administrative capital for
the region, the mountain village of Mijas Pueblo is a fair distance from the
coast, in terms of the differences between the village and Mijas Costa, it
could be hundreds of miles away.
Mijas Costa consists of
the urbanisations of El Faro, La Cala de Mijas, Miraflores, Riviera del Sol
and Sitio de Calahonda.
Within the region of Mijas there are several golf
courses, numerous "Blue Flag" award winning beaches and small coves and a
multitude of leisure activities.
